Every day I drive by one of the many, many construction sites in Marlboro and wonder…what is the story with this one?

In a town made infamous by real estate wrongdoings, not the least of which includes the indictment of our former mayor in 2005, any new project in this overdeveloped area is I think, suspect.

In 2005 Matt Scannapieco told a federal judge that he accepted $245,000 in exchange for helping win planning board approvals for six development projects in Marlboro. All are connected to Anthony Spalliero. During the same year  bribery charges filed against former Monmouth County Freeholder Director Harry Larrison Jr.  who ruled the county for nearly three decades as freeholder director, admitted that he accepted a bribe from Spalliero to help smooth the way for a Marlboro development.

Admidst this and many other scandals, I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on with this quasi-superfund site.
